Sumedang

is a little town in west java, it's about 45 km northeast from Bandung. Sumedang is famous by Tahu ( fried deep tofu ). Sumedang is border with Indramayu (North), Majalengka (East), Garut (South), Bandung (Westsouth) and Subang (West). Sumedang is around by mountains and most area are rice fields and forests. Sumedang has 26 sub district distribute to 277 villages. The famous mountain is Mt. Tampomas ( 1.684 m ) located in sub district Cimalaka.

History

Sumedang was a kingdom under controls Galuh kingdom. Sumedang was established by Prabu Aji Putih as an order from Prabu Suryadewata before the Galuh kingdom was move to Pakuan Padjajaran in Bogor.

The first king is Prabu Aji Putih in 12 century, and continue with Prabu Tajimalela. The name of Sumedang was taken from Prabu Tajimalela statement " Insun Medal " and name of Sumedang Larang kingdom.

Sumedang was victory when Prabu Geusan Oeloen as a king, in 1578. Sumedang is specific old town in java, there is central park around by mosque, prison and government building. in the center of prak there is Lingga monument, was build by prince Siching from Netherland to Pangeran Aria Suriaatmadja in 1922 and was former on July 22, 1922 by Governor general Mr. D. Folk.

Lingga is using as logo of sumedang and April 22 is sumedang birthday.
